Friday night (5/4/12) I was fortunate to get to watch a good lightning show to our East. Of course I grabbed the camera to see what I could get. Here are a few of them:

I DO like a good thunderstorm.

We had some dense, very patchy fog this morning. As I was going to the shop/office, I went on out to “Cramer’s Canyon” to see what kind of fog shots I could come up with:

I took more, but those were the ones I thought came out the best.

Logan’s pinewood derby car is ready for the “AWANA Grand Prix”.

I know it’s only March 12th, but I’m not sure the little Crocus flowers on the East side of our house realize that. A few of these little guys popped up today with it being almost 70 degrees.

I like Spring.

Spring is good.

I’ve been interested in, and reading about macro (close up) photography lately. It seems to me that there are always small details and textures in things that when viewed close up, could be interesting.

I don’t have a macro lens (yet) but I’ve been reading about how you can reverse a 50mm lens and get a macro effect. I had to try it to see how it works. It’s not real easy to do. You have to take the lens off your camera, turn it around, and hold it up against the body “wrong side out”. Then, while doing that, you have to move closer to and away from the subject to focus all while trying to hold everything steady.

Well, after playing around a bit, this is one of the first shots I got tonight. It’s a ball point pen.

A photography forum I frequent does a weekend photo challenge. This weekend, the theme is “Wide Open” meaning a lens f-stop setting as open as it will go.

The Tamron 17-50 lens I used today will to to f/2.8 at its widest. Here is a photo I took this afternoon just before it started snowing:

I made it through the photo-a-day for 365 days in 2011. That was such a push, I was happy to take a break from posting pics.

I took a few pics today. Here is one of the neighbor’s Pine tree after the snow.

I want to be more active again in taking and posting pics. We’ll see how it goes.
